NEW YORK, NY - The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a suspected hate crime involving anti-Jewish vandalism in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.


According to police, the incident occurred on December 27, 2025, at approximately 12:13 p.m., in front of 47 East 60th Street, within the confines of the NYPD’s 19th Precinct.


What Happened


Investigators say an unidentified individual used a sharp instrument to carve anti-Jewish remarks into the front door of an establishment at the location. During the incident, a 24-year-old male employee noticed the vandalism and approached the suspect.


At that point, police report the individual displayed the sharp instrument, made several anti-Jewish statements, and then fled the scene on foot, traveling eastbound on East 60th Street.


No injuries were reported.


Hate Crime Investigation Underway


The case is being actively investigated by the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force, which handles crimes motivated by bias based on religion, race, ethnicity, and other protected characteristics.


Authorities are treating the vandalism and verbal remarks as a bias-related criminal mischief incident, a designation that can carry enhanced penalties under New York law.
