MANHATTAN - An Amazon delivery driver was struck in the back of the head with a glass bottle by a group of muggers who tried to steal his packages, cops said.
Police released surveillance video of the four men wanted in the attack. One of the men is seen trying to drag the giant tote bag filled with packages. Cops said the crew eventually left the tote with the packages and fled empty handed.
The melee started around 5 pm on July 13, in front of 402 East 117th Street. As the Amazon worker was carrying the giant tote filled with packages he was approached by the four men. As one of the men asked the delivery man what packages he had in his bag, another in the crew snuck up behind him and smashed the Amazon worker in the back of the head with a glass bottle.
Cops said the attackers chased the deliveryman towards 1st Avenue where they knocked the victim to the ground and proceeded to punch and kick him.
The group then ran away on foot eastbound on East 117th Street. The crooks eventually abandoned the tote filled with packages.
The victim was rushed to an area hospital where he was treated for head injuries. Three of the four suspects are described as males with dark complexions. One of the males has a light complexion and a beard.
The first suspect was last seen wearing a white tank top, black shorts and has a beard.
