Muggers on Kick Scooters Sought in Series of Robberies

NEW YORK - Cops are looking for a pair of muggers who ride kick scooters and have robbed at least four people in lower Manhattan.


The first robbery took place after midnight in Greenwich Village. At around 12:40 am on September 2, a 36-year-old man was walking in the vicinity of Greenwich Street and West 11 Street when he heard the scraping of wheels from kick scooters.



Cops said two men on kick scooters rode up from behind and grabbed him. They forcibly removed the man’s cell phone and demanded to know the phone’s passcode.


The robbers then rode off. 


A man sitting in Tompkins Square Park in broad daylight was the next victim.





At around 5:30 pm on September 9, a 52-year-old man was sitting on a bench inside Tompkins Square Park. The robbers on kick scooters rode up and forcibly removed the park goers cell phone. 


The crooks rode away without further incident.


The third robbery took place in Chelsea on September 10. At around 2:20 am, a 20-year-old man was walking down West 24th Street, when two men on kick scooters rolled up behind him.

Cops said the men on the scooters pounced and forcibly removed the man’s wallet. They then hopped back on their scooters and drove away.


The final robbery took place at around 2 am on September 13. A 24-year-old man was walking in the vicinity of 1st Avenue and East 50th Street when he as approached by the scooter riding robbers.


Cops said the robbers pushed him to the ground and forcibly removed his cellphone. They then demanded the pass code for the phone.
