Colorado Man Nabbed in Chinatown Car Shooting

NEW YORK - A Colorado man was arrested in connection with a shooting in Chinatown in which the victim was shot in the face.
Police announced the arrest of 24-year-old Khalil Smith of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was charged with attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

At around 12:30 am on June 2, a 28-year-old man was sitting in a car in front of 51 Chrystie Street in Chinatown near the entrance to the Manhattan Bridge. Cops said the suspect walked up to the car and began arguing with the driver.
As the dispute escalated, cops said the man pulled out a gun and fired into the car. The victim was shot in the left check and was grazed in the back of the neck.
The gunman ran off.
Cops said the victim drove himself to Bellevue Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Cops say the victim’s car suffered damage from the barrage of bullets that hit it.
After the shooting, police released surveillance video of the suspect who wore sneakers with distinctive laces - pink on one shoe, blue for the other.
