Chelsea Chain Snatching Valued at a Grand - NYC News

NEW YORK - A moped riding thief made off with a $1,000 necklace during a chain snatching in Chelsea, cops said. 



Police released surveillance video of the suspect who was dressed all in black and was riding a blue moped. 


At around 5 pm on October 19, a 39-year-old woman was walking in front of 215 West 17th Street in Chelsea. Cops said a man came up to her and ripped the necklace off her neck. 


The chain snatcher then hopped on a blue moped and drove off eastbound on West 17th Street. 



The victim suffered injuries and refused medical attention at the scene. 


Cops said the necklace is valued at $960. 


The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing black pants, a black jacket, and a black ski mask.
