NYC LOCAL NEWS - A street robbery involving an iPhone 17 Pro Max was reported to police following an incident late Friday night in Manhattan’s Upper East Side.


According to authorities, the incident occurred on Friday, December 5, 2025, at approximately 9:11 p.m., in the vicinity of 5 Avenue and East 60 Street. A 42-year-old man was walking in the area when he was suddenly approached by an unidentified individual.


iPhone 17 Pro Max Stolen During Walk on East 60 Street


Police say the suspect snatched the victim’s iPhone 17 Pro Max directly from his hand before fleeing the scene on foot. The suspect was last seen running eastbound on East 60 Street, escaping to parts unknown.


Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the victim did not require medical attention following the robbery. However, the incident highlights ongoing concerns about cell phone snatch-and-run robberies in busy Manhattan neighborhoods.


Suspect Description Released by Police


Authorities are actively seeking the suspect and have released the following description: He is a male with a dark complexion who was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, gray sweatpants, light blue gloves, black socks and white and gray sneakers.


The suspect was last observed fleeing eastbound on East 60 Street immediately after the theft.
