MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NEW YORK — A man was fatally shot inside a 7-Eleven convenience store in Midtown Manhattan on Thursday morning, according to the NYPD, in a brazen daytime shooting just steps from the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

Police say the shooting happened just before 10:30 a.m. at the 7-Eleven located at 589 Eighth Avenue near West 39th Street, a busy commercial corridor packed with commuters, tourists, and local workers.

Officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress at the Midtown convenience store around 10:30 a.m. When police arrived, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Emergency Medical Services pronounced the victim dead at the scene, authorities said.

The man’s identity has not yet been released, pending family notification.

The shooting occurred roughly one block from the Port Authority Bus Terminal, one of the busiest transit hubs in New York City. The area is heavily trafficked during morning hours, making the fatal gun violence incident in Midtown Manhattan particularly alarming.

Investigators have not yet announced any arrests.

The New York Post reported that the victim may have been a panhandler who got into a dispute with another man inside the store prior to the shooting.

However, police have not confirmed those details and declined to comment on that report.

Authorities say the investigation into the fatal shooting at the Midtown Manhattan 7-Eleven remains ongoing.

The NYPD has not released information about a suspect description or potential motive. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from inside the store and surrounding businesses along Eighth Avenue.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more details become available.
