According to police, the incident happened on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at approximately 10:59 a.m., inside a commercial establishment located at 457 West 125 Street.
Police say the unidentified woman entered the store and attempted to purchase multiple cell phones. During the transaction, a verbal dispute broke out between the suspect and a 38-year-old female employee.
Authorities report that the situation escalated when the suspect allegedly grabbed a phone directly from the employee’s hand and fled the store.
The employee followed the woman outside onto West 125 Street, where police say the suspect punched her in the face before fleeing westbound on foot to parts unknown.
Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and treated the victim for minor injuries.
The case is now being investigated as part of the 26th Precinct Manhattan robbery February 11 2026, a developing case that authorities say involves both theft and assault.
The woman being sought in connection with this NYPD seeking suspect in West 125 Street commercial robbery investigation is described as a female with a medium complexion, heavy build and long hair.
At the time of the incident, she was last seen wearing a black sweater, black pants and black sunglasses.
