NEW YORK, NY - Cops are looking for a cold-blooded robber who knocked an 83-year-old woman down and took the money she was using to buy an OMNY card out of her hands.
According to police, the incident happened on March 30, 2026, at approximately 10:20 am in the mezzanine level of the 86 Street Subway Station. At the time, an 83-year-old woman was attempting to purchase an OMNY card when she was approached by an unknown individual.
In what authorities describe as a daytime subway robbery targeting an elderly victim in Manhattan, the suspect allegedly pushed the woman to the ground and forcibly took about $20 from her hand before fleeing the station on foot.
Police describe the suspect as a male with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored hat, black jacket gray sweatshirt, dark pants and dark sneakers.
The individual fled in an unknown direction, and no arrests have been made so far.
Emergency Medical Services responded quickly and treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries. While she did not require hospitalization, the incident highlights ongoing concerns about public transit crime involving senior citizens in New York City.
The NYPD is urging anyone with information about this Upper East Side subway robbery suspect to come forward. Even small details could help investigators identify and locate the individual involved.
As the investigation continues, officials are reminding commuters to stay aware of their surroundings—especially in transit hubs—and to report suspicious behavior immediately.
