NEW YORK, NY - The discovery of a body of a man stabbed to death near Times Square shocked residents and stoked new fears of the bad old days of NYC returning.

On Monday night, a man was fatally stabbed in an alleyway just steps away from the bright lights of Times Square. According to authorities, officers responded to a 911 call reporting an assault at approximately 11:30 p.m. near 132 West 43rd Street. What they found was a brutal scene that has now turned into an active homicide investigation.

The victim, identified only as a 39-year-old man, suffered multiple stab wounds to his torso and back, along with a deep slash wound to his face.

Emergency responders rushed him to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, he did not survive.

Police say the attack happened in an alleyway beside a popular restaurant, a location that typically sees heavy foot traffic. The bloodbath took place down the block from the Town Hall theater which had performances from such plays as “Suffs.”

The contrast between the area’s usual energy and the violence of the incident has raised concerns among locals and visitors alike.

At this point, investigators are focusing on fatal stabbing near Times Square Monday night, a case that remains unsolved as of Tuesday morning. Detectives believe three men were involved in the attack and are actively working to identify and locate them. So far, no arrests have been made.

Officials have not yet released the victim’s identity, as they are still working to notify family members. Meanwhile, the NYPD continues to gather evidence and review surveillance footage from nearby businesses in hopes of piecing together what led to the deadly encounter.

Crimes like this are rare in heavily trafficked tourist zones, which is why violent crime near Times Square late night assault case is drawing heightened attention. The investigation is still in its early stages, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

For now, the alleyway has returned to its usual quiet state, but the questions surrounding what happened there remain very much alive. Authorities are expected to release more information as the investigation develops.
