LES Slasher ID’d - Cops Searching for Career Criminal Who Slashed Man in Face

NEW YORK, NY - Cops have identified a suspect in the horrible Lower East Side Slashing. Investigators released the mugshot of the career criminal, they say, slashed a man’s face outside a popular Orchard Street corridor, according to police.
Authorities say the incident happened around 3:00 a.m. on January 4, 2026, in front of 174 Orchard Street. Investigators reported that the victim was approached by another man before being attacked with what police described as a cutting instrument.
The victim suffered serious facial lacerations during the encounter and was rushed by EMS to Bellevue Hospital for treatment. Officials said the man was listed in stable condition following the attack.
Police later identified the suspect as 33-year-old Shaquan Edwards.
The shocking incident unfolded in one of Manhattan’s busiest nightlife areas, drawing renewed attention to overnight violence in the Lower East Side. Residents and late-night workers in the area said emergency responders arrived quickly after reports of the attack.
According to investigators, the suspect fled the scene immediately after the assault and initially escaped to parts unknown.
Emergency medical crews treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue. Authorities confirmed the victim sustained lacerations to the face but survived the incident.
Law enforcement sources have not yet released additional details regarding a possible motive or whether the victim and suspect knew each other before the incident.
Police identified the individual connected to the assault as Shaquan Edwards, a 33-year-old male. No additional charges or arrest information had been released at the time of publication.
