NEW YORK, NY - When do New Yorkers fear an older man wearing a fanny pack: when he rides the subway. Cops say the suspect caught on video beat and stabbed a subway rider in Harlem.

According to police, the incident happened during the early morning hours on April 30.

At around 4:10 a.m., inside the 190th Street subway station, a 35-year-old man was riding aboard a southbound A train when an unidentified male suspect began arguing with him. What started as a verbal dispute quickly escalated into a brutal physical attack.

Police said the suspect repeatedly punched the victim in the face before allegedly stabbing him in the left forearm with an unknown sharp object.

The victim suffered bruising and swelling to his face along with a minor laceration to his forearm. EMS responded to the scene and transported the injured man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was listed in stable condition.

Authorities have now released a description of the suspect in hopes someone from the public recognizes him.

The individual being sought is described as a male with a medium complexion, approximately 40 to 50 years old, standing about 5-foot-7 and weighing around 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray hoodie sweater, black pants, black-and-white sneakers, a gray hat, and a black fanny pack.

The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify and locate the suspect connected to the assault on the Manhattan subway train.
