NEW YORK, NY - In the city, porch pirates do things a little differently. Cops in Harlem are looking for a pajama wearing thief who knocked a woman down to steal her package rather than take it from her front door.

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect connected to a robbery that took place Monday morning in Harlem.

According to investigators, the incident happened on April 20, 2026, at approximately 7:50 a.m. near the intersection of West 116th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard. Authorities say a 29-year-old woman was approached by an unidentified individual while walking in the area.

Police said the suspect allegedly pushed the victim to the ground before taking a package from her possession. The individual then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene, according to officials.

Investigators are now working to identify the suspect involved in the incident. Media showing the individual being sought has been attached and is also available through DCPI.

Residents in the neighborhood say the busy Harlem corridor near West 116th Street typically sees heavy foot traffic during the morning commute, making incidents like this particularly concerning for people who regularly walk through the area.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery is encouraged to contact police.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/, on X @NYPDTips.
