‘Amazon’ Driver Beats Man with Bat in Flatiron District

NEW YORK, NY -  A man wearing an Amazon delivery vest was caught on camera swinging a metal bat on the streets of the Flatiron District. Cops say he used that bat to beat a man in broad daylight.


At around 11:40 a.m. on April 30, investigators say a 48-year-old man was approached by two unidentified suspects in broad daylight near East 23rd Street and Park Avenue South near Washington Square Park in the Flatiron District. During the encounter, one of the suspects allegedly kicked the victim, causing him to fall to the ground.


Police say the second suspect then pulled out a metal baseball bat and repeatedly struck the victim in the head multiple times.


The violent nature of the attack has raised concerns among residents and commuters in the busy Manhattan neighborhood, especially given the time of day and heavily trafficked location where the incident occurred.


Emergency responders arrived shortly after the assault and transported the victim to for treatment.


Authorities said the victim suffered a laceration to the head but was listed in stable condition following the attack.


No arrests have been made at this time.


After the assault, both suspects fled the scene on foot heading eastbound along East 23rd Street, according to investigators.


The NYPD released surveillance images of the two individuals and is urging anyone with information regarding their identities or whereabouts to come forward.


The investigation remains ongoing as detectives work to identify the attackers involved in the Park Avenue South assault case.
