Man Slashed Across Face as he Crossed the Street in Random Attack

NEW YORK, NY - A 33-year-old man was hospitalized after being slashed during an altercation in Harlem late Wednesday night, according to police.


Authorities said the incident occurred on June 3, 2026, at approximately 10:40 p.m. near the intersection of Central Park North and Lenox Avenue. The victim was approached by an unidentified individual, and at some point, a dispute broke out between the two men.


Police reported that the confrontation quickly escalated when the suspect pulled out a knife and slashed the victim in the face and hand. After the attack, the assailant fled the scene on foot and remains at large.


EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. He was listed in stable condition.


No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify and locate the suspect. 


Police have released surveillance video of the suspect taken from inside a local bodega. The suspect is a male with a medium complexion and a long goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue knitted cap. He also wore a gray long sleeve shirt with red, yellow and blue stripes with a graphic on the front. He also wore pink shorts with a light green design pattern  and black and white sneakers.
