NYPD Seeks Public's Help Identifying Suspect in Two Spray-Paint Vandalism Incidents at Midtown Manhattan Building

NEW YORK, NY — Cops are looking for the man who defaced a landmark building that has served as the Consulate General of Poland in New York by spray painting it on two sepparate occasions in Murray Hill.
According to police, both incidents took place at 233 Madison Avenue in Manhattan, where an unknown suspect allegedly used spray paint to damage property on two different occasions within a span of just days.
Authorities said the first incident occurred on May 27, 2026, at approximately 7:05 p.m. Investigators report that an unidentified individual approached 233 Madison Avenue and vandalized property using black spray paint.
After causing the damage, the suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction before police arrived.
The incident is being investigated as criminal mischief involving spray paint vandalism in Manhattan, and detectives are working to determine the motive behind the act.
Police say a second act of vandalism was reported at the same location on May 29, 2026, at approximately 6:40 a.m.
In this case, the suspect allegedly returned to 233 Madison Avenue and damaged property using red spray paint. Following the incident, the individual again fled on foot to parts unknown.
Investigators are examining whether the same person was responsible for multiple vandalism incidents at a Midtown Manhattan building and are reviewing available surveillance footage and witness statements.
The NYPD has released images of the individual sought in connection with the investigation and is urging anyone who may recognize the suspect to come forward.
Law enforcement officials believe public assistance could be instrumental in identifying the person depicted in the released media as part of the NYPD criminal mischief investigation in Manhattan.
