NEW YORK - Police are searching for a person who vandalized a police car during last month’s Union Square Riot.

Cops released surveillance video of a suspect throwing debris on a marked NYPD patrol car. The squad car was parked in the vicinity of East 19th Street and Park Avenue during the riot in Union Square on August 4.

According to police the incident unfolded at 12:30 p.m. on August 4, at Union Square in Manhattan when “influencer / gamer” Kai Cenat allegedly posted that he would be giving away free video game consoles—when all hell broke loose.

As police made arrests and placed those in custody onto a bus, officers reported that a large crowd had surrounded the bus. The full-fledged riot turned into a street-by-street battle with dinner plates and construction cones becoming projectiles.

In the days and weeks following the riot, police have made arrests of suspects for allegedly vandalizing vehicles in the area including police cars. Police used video from the incident to help make arrests.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on Twitter @NYPDTips.

All calls are strictly confidential.
