MANHATTAN - Cops are looking for a would-be rapist who attacked a woman inside a Lower East Side subway station. Investigators released new surveillance video of the suspect.

At around 2:30 am on April 7, a 30-year-old woman was waiting on the northbound F train platform at the Rutgers Street and East Broadway subway station. A man walked up behind the straphanger and she began to walk away. As the woman rode the up elevator away from the platform, the man followed close behind.

Cops say the man then grabbed the woman, forcibly pushed her pants down and tried to rape her. During the struggle, the victim tried to call police on her cellphone. The attacker grabbed the phone and threw it on the other side of the escalator. He then ran off.

Cops said the victim did not suffer any injuries.

The NYPD released surveillance video taken from the platform of the suspect. He is described as a male with a light complexion who is 5 foot 4 and 120 pounds. Cops describe the suspect as a man  between the ages of 25 and 35 who has a thin build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a white hoodie sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, and white sneakers.
