NEW YORK - An elderly man was sucker punched in an unprovoked attack near Union Square, cops said. The attacker took off on a moped.
At around 1:45 pm on September 27, a 72-year-old man was walking in the vicinity of 14th Street and Union Square. Cops said an unknown man walked up to him, punched him and then pushed. The senior fell backward into a large cement flowerpot.
The attacker hopped on a black electric moped and rode off.

The victim was taken by EMS to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue. The victim sustained internal injuries and had complained of pains. He was listed in stable condition.
The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion and a heavy build. He was last seen riding a dark electric moped with the word “Italica” on the side of the seat and the letters “RX” on the side of the EV.
The suspect was last seen wearing a tan jacket with orange trim on the wrists, waist and collar. He wore an orange knit cap and eyeglasses. He also wore tan pants and black boots.
