MANHATTAN - An elderly cell phone schooled a young subway rider in Lower Manhattan when he conned his way out of getting caught, the NYPD said.

At around 2:30 pm on November 4, a 26-year-old male was sitting on a bench at the southbound platform of the J Train at the Essex Street and Delancy Street subway station. Cops said an older man walked by and snatched the man’s iPhone out of his hands. He then removed the youngster’s sunglasses off his head.

When the subway rider got up and tried to get back his items, the thief threatened him and acted as if he had a knife, cops said. When the victim backed off, the thief fled the station.
