This fall, there was also an uptick of Mycoplasma pneumonia (known colloquially as “white lung syndrome”) among children in Ohio, adding to the concern. Random Attacker Beats Man on Subway Platform The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with a random attack in the subway. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice May 13, 2024 MANHATTAN - A subway rider was pummeled in the face by a random attacker at a station near Radio City Music Hall, cops said.  At around 1:35 am on May 4, a 22-year-old male was waiting on the platform for the northbound N/R line at the 49th Street station. Cops said a man in a baseball cap walked up to him and, without warning, began punching him in the face. After repeatedly smashing his fist into the victim’s face, the attacker ran out of the station.  EMS transported the victim to Lenox Health Greenwich Village where he was treated and listed in stable condition.  The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect taken from inside the subway station by the turnstiles. Cops are looking for the suspect who exposed himself to a female straphanger, the NYPD announced.  Cops released dramatic surveillance video taken from the platform of the F Train on West 4th Street. In the video the suspect is seen looking at his phone and looking around to see if a train is approaching the station. It is not until the suspect walks across the platform does the viewer notice the purposely blurred out lower half. Muggers Steal Man’s Clothes The NYPD is searching for these men in connection with a mugging near the Port Authority. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice March 19, 2024 MANHATTAN - A trio of muggers choked a man for his clothes near the Port Authority bus terminal, the NYPD announced. At around 2:30 am on March 4, a 23-year-old man was standing in front of 355 West 39 th  Street, a block away from the Port Authority bus terminal. Cops said three men ran up to him and put the victim in a chokehold. While the man struggled, the other attackers repeatedly punched him.  Cops said the muggers forcibly removed the victim’s jacket, hat and sunglasses. They then ran off in an unknown direction.  EMS transported the victim to Lenox Healthplex Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

Gruesome Discovery During Wellness Check Eerily Similar to Bronx Dismember Case A wellness check led cops to the body of a woman stuffed inside a duffel bag in her apartment, cops said. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice March 15, 2024 MANHATTAN - A wellness check on a Kips Bay woman led cops and family members to a gruesome discovery - her body stuffed inside a bag in the apartment, the NYPD said. The discovery is eerily reminiscent of last week’s Bronx dismemberment case.  At around 4:30 pm on March 14, cops from the 17th Precinct responding to a wellness check proceeded to Nadia Vital’s  apartment at 206 East 31st Street in Kips Bay. The family had called police when they had not heard from Nadia for several days.  Inside a closet in the apartment cops discovered a large bag. Peering inside the bag, cops found Vital’s body. It was not apparent what was the cause of the 52-year-old’s death. The Medical Examiner is investigating.  The discovery...

Investigators believe the vicious beating and slashing was an unprovoked attack.  The NYPD just released new surveillance video of a man suspected of beating and slashing a man during a random attack.   At around 10:30 am on December 31, a 52-year-old man was standing in front of a Chinese Takeout restaurant at 2038 Amsterdam Avenue. Cops said a man dressed in black ran up to him and struck the victim in the back of the head with a bottle.
