MANHATTAN - A straphanger was stabbed while riding in a subway car at Columbus Circle in an apparent random attack, the NYPD said.
Around 6 am on January 17, a 42-year-old man was inside a southbound D train stopped at the 59th Street/ Columbus Circle station. An unknown man wearing a leather jacket with patches walked up to him. The man pulled out a knife and, without warning, plunged it into the straphanger’s right shoulder.
The attacker ran out of the train and was last seen jumping onto a northbound Number 2 train.
The victim was rushed to Woodhull Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
The NYPD released surveillance video from inside the subway station.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion and slim build. He was last seen wearing a brown leather jacket with a green hooded sweatshirt underneath, light colored pants, and black sneakers.
