MANHATTAN - Cops are searching for a bank robber who is targeting customers and not the banks themselves.
The NYPD released new info on a suspect who mugged people within two different Manhattan banks within an hour of each other. The first attack occurred near Penn Station. The second was near Herald Square.
At around 1:47 pm on March 28, the suspect walked into the Capital One Bank on 34th Street. Cops said he walked up to a 42-year-old customer and struck her in the chest.
As the woman reeled from the assault, the robber forcibly removed $600 from her hands. During the struggle, the robber dropped the money and fled empty handed.
An hour later the same suspect entered a Bank of America at 1293 Broadway. Cops said the mugger pushed a 48-year-old woman to the ground and removed $500 cash from her.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect. He is described as a male with a medium complexion and a medium build and has a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black face mask, dark gray pants and black sneakers.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
