MANHATTAN - A dog owner was stabbed in the abdomen as his Yorkie was stolen during a bizare incident in Chelsea. Police are investigating if this was a planned robbery or a random attack.
At around 1:20 pm on April 22, a 56-year-old man was walking his Yorkie on 9th Avenue in Chelsea. Cops said another man walked up to the dog walker and began arguing. He then pulled out a knife and stabbed the dog owner in the abdomen.
Cops said the attacker then scooped up the dog and ran off.
The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Investigators said the two men had argued prior to the stabbing but do not appear to know each other.
