NYC LOCAL NEWS - Commuters on the northbound 6 train at the 42 Street–Grand Central subway station were met with unsettling news this week. A 15-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a fellow straphanger and cops have released a photo of the suspect they are looking for.

According to police reports, on Friday, December 5, 2025, at approximately 7:35 a.m., a 15-year-old female passenger experienced unwanted contact from an unidentified individual while riding the train.

What Police Say Happened

Authorities say the teenager was aboard the train during the busy morning commute when an unknown man approached her. The individual allegedly rubbed her upper inner thigh and private area over her clothing. Before the victim could react or seek help, the man quickly fled the subway station on foot, disappearing into nearby streets.

Police confirmed that no physical injuries were reported. However, the incident has understandably raised concerns among riders who rely on the subway system each day.

Description of the Suspect

The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the man involved. The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a black hat, a black hooded jacket, black pants and black sneakers
