NYPD Seeks Help Identifying Suspects in Armed Apartment Robbery Near West 180th Street

NEW YORK, NY - The NYPD is asking for the public’s help after a frightening armed robbery inside a Washington Heights apartment, and investigators believe someone out there may recognize the suspect caught on camera.


According to police, the robbery happened on Saturday, January 3, 2026, around 5:45 p.m., inside an apartment near West 180th Street and St. Nicholas Avenue, within the confines of the 33 Precinct.



Authorities say a 17-year-old male was home alone when two unidentified individuals entered his residence without permission. During the incident, one of the suspects displayed a firearm, escalating the situation quickly.


Police report the suspects stole:


  • Approximately $36,000 in cash


  • Jewelry valued at about $20,000


After taking the cash and valuables, the suspects fled on foot, heading eastbound on West 180th Street. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.


The NYPD says one of the individuals being sought is described as a male with a light complexion. Investigators have released media depicting one of the suspects, which is available through DCPI, in hopes that someone will recognize him.


Police emphasize that even small details can make a difference in an investigation like this.


At this time, a full NYPD investigation is ongoing, and detectives are continuing to canvass the area and review evidence related to the armed apartment robbery near St. Nicholas Avenue.


The department is urging anyone with information to come forward.
