NEW YORK, NY - Residents and students in Upper Manhattan are shaken after a random daytime attack near Columbia University in NYC left four women injured, police said.


The NYPD says, a man approached 3 women who were walking along Broadway near the university when, without warning, he allegedly began punching them in the face. 


The victims range in age from 24 to 52 years old. All four women suffered injuries during the sudden attack.



One of the victims, a 35-year-old woman, was transported by EMS to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital. She was listed in stable condition and received treatment for her injuries.


As part of the ongoing investigation, the NYPD released photos and video of the suspect believed to be responsible for the violent attack on four women in Upper Manhattan. Detectives are asking anyone who recognizes the individual to come forward.


The department is urging the public to assist in identifying the suspect in this broad daylight assault near Columbia University campus.



The incident has sparked concern among students, faculty, and neighborhood residents who frequently walk along Broadway near the university. The area is typically busy with foot traffic, making the random attack in Morningside Heights near Columbia University particularly alarming.


While police continue their search, community members are being reminded to stay aware of their surroundings and report suspicious activity.
