MANHATTAN - Police released new images of a man wanted in connection with the senseless subway slashing of an elderly man on the Number 6 train.
Police initially released a photo which showed that the suspect wore a long dark coat with a brown fur hood. The new photo shows the suspect had underneath the coat a thin multi-colored hoodie jacket.
In addition the new photo shows the suspect to have a thin build with more of his face exposed peaking out from beneath the hood and face mask. The older photo showed the man zipped up with the layers of jackets which made the suspect to appear to have a larger frame.
At around 3 am on December 8, a 66-year-old man was on board a southbound Number 6 train. As the train approached the 33rd Street and Park Avenue Station, a man in a brown coat with fur hood and wearing a black mask approached him. Without a word or warning he pulled out a sharp object and slashed the straphanger in the head and ear.
When the train stopped at the station the attacker jumped off and fled to the street above.
The victim was rushed to Bellevue Hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
