Follow @xMANHATTAN - Cops say they arrested the “bagman” who slugged a 77-year-old woman in the face during a random attack on the Upper West Side.
Police arrested 37-year-old Anthony Melendez on September 19. The Brooklyn resident was charged with second degree assault.
At around 2 pm on September 13, a 77-year-old woman was standing in front of a building at 27 West 72nd Street. Cops said a young man walked up to her and, without saying a word, punched the elderly woman in the left eye.
The victim was treated at a local hospital and released.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect. The alleged attacker was seen on camera holding a clear plastic bag of clothes and pulling a small, wheeled suitcase behind him.
No motive for the attack has been given.
