Follow @xMANHATTAN - Cops are looking for a shirtless mugger who viciously beat an elderly couple on a brownstone lined street on the West Side.
At around 10:35 pm on November 9, a 75-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman were walking on the sidewalk in front of 437 West 44th Street. Cops said a man ran up to the couple, grabbed the woman’s purse and tried to yank it off her arm. During the struggle the mugger threw the woman to the sidewalk.
The attacker then tried to forcibly remove the male’s wallet. As the two struggled, the mugger then repeatedly punched the elderly man in the face. The fists to the face caused damage to the man’s eye and face.
The attacker then ran off empty handed. Cops said as he fled the scene, the attacker took off his shirt and discarded it.
EMS rushed the victims to Mount Sinai West where they are listed in stable condition. The female victim suffered a bloody nose and bruising to her neck and elbow. The male victim suffered “serious physical injury to the eye and face.”
The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect fleeing shirtless. He is described as a male with a medium complexion, and medium build. He has a beard and a man bun. He was waist seen wearing gray pants.
