MANHATTAN - A woman was slugged in the face when she tried to stop a thief who stole her cellphone across from the NY Times Building, cops said.

The NYPD released new surveillance video of the suspect who struck the woman in front of the Port Authority Bus Terminal.

At around 1 am on November 17, a 24-year-old woman was standing on the corner of West 40 Street and 8 Avenue, across from the Port Authority on one side and the NY Times Building on the other. Cops said a man in a red knit hat walked up to her and yanked the cellphone out of her hands.

When the woman tried to fight and get the cellphone back, the robber punched her in the face, investigators said. The attacker then casually walked off.

The victim sustained injuries to her face but was not hospitalized. The suspect is described as a male with a medium build and a medium complexion. He was last seen wearing green jacket, black pants, black boots, and carrying a black book bag. He also wore a dark red knitted hat.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
