MANHATTAN - Cops are searching for an attacker who sucker punched an MTA worker at the Herald Square subway station. Reports claim the victim tried to help the alleged attacker after his OMNY card did not work.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect who was seen sporting large over the ear headphones atop his head.

At around 7 pm, at the mezzanine of the 34th Street - Herald Square subway station the suspect was captured on surveillance video. The video shows the man wearing a bright green hoodie fiddling with his OMNY card trying to get through the turnstile.

According to published reports, an MTA worker motioned to the suspect and tried to help him. The man claimed he had money on his card but it was not working. When the MTA employee read the card and told him it only had 30 cents on it, things turned violent. Without warning the suspect smashed the worker the face with his fist before fleeing.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion and dark beard. He was last seen wearing a bight green hoodie under a gray winter coat. He also had a pair of black, over the ear headphones atop his head.
