NYC LOCAL NEWS - Panic shot through the Times Square subway station when the sound of gunfire erupted, sending commuters ducking for cover.

Cops say an argument between a group of youngsters ended in gunfire and two people were taken into custody.

Just after 8:30 p.m.on Monday, a loud bang echoed through the 42nd Street–Port Authority Bus Terminal station, sending commuters diving for cover and sprinting toward exits. For a moment, no one knew what was happening—but police later confirmed it was gunfire. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

According to the NYPD, it all started with an argument between two young men near the A/C/E lines. Things escalated fast, and at least one shot—maybe two—was fired.

The sound was enough to stop musicians mid-performance and send a wave of fear through one of the city’s busiest transit hubs.

“We just heard a shot in the hallway, and everybody ducked, everybody started running, everybody started screaming,” subway performer Eddie Conner told CBS 2 News.

Police were able to track down the two men involved, and both were taken into custody.

As of Tuesday, charges were still pending while the investigation continued.
