Flash Mob Steals $6K Worth of Eyeglasses

Strikes 2 Eyeglass Stores at Different Ends of Manhattan  The NYPD is searching for multiple suspects as part of a flash mob that has robbed two LensCrafters in Manhattan. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice March 6, 2024 MANHATTAN - Cops are looking for a robbery crew of at least seven suspects who hit two LensCrafters at opposite ends of Manhattan and made off with close to $6 grand in eyewear, the NYPD announced.  Cops released surveillance video of the baby-faced robbery suspects. Investigators said these young suspects were part of a flash mob that hit two stores making off with arms full of glasses. In each case, the suspects did not even try to conceal their faces.  The first robbery took place in the Financial District. At around 4:45 pm on March 1, a group of seven males entered the LensCrafters at 60 Broad Street. Members of the group scooped up glasses and walked out without paying. Attacker Made Homophobic Remarks Before Slashing Subway Rider - Cops Say The NYPD has made an arrest in the hate crime slashing inside a subway train at Penn Station. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice March 5, 2024 MANHATTAN - A Bronx man has been arrested for the hate crime slashing at Penn Station, the NYPD said. Police have arrested 46-year-old Milton Hamlin of the Grand Concourse for the subway slashing. Hamlin was charged with assault hate crime, assault, menacing hate crime and menacing. At around 11 pm on March 1, a 27-year-old man was riding the A Train approached 34th Street Penn Station. Cops said unprovoked, another man approached him and made anti-LGBTQ statements.  The attacker then pulled out a box cutter and went after the straphanger. The victim put up his hands to stop the blow and was slashed on his left hand.

A new photo had been released of the man suspected of kicking a straphanger onto the tracks at Penn Station, the NYPD announced. In addition to the droopy drawers, the video shows the suspect wearing sunglasses with the price tag still hanging from the glasses. In the video the man is seen holding up his pants as they fall around his ankles. Cops said the suspect pulled up his pants and kicked a subway rider for no reason.

Man Slashed with Box Cutter Inside Subway Car The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with a hate crime in which a straphanger was slashed on the subway. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice March 4, 2024 MANHATTAN - A straphanger was slashed inside an “A” train by a man who shouted homophobic remarks during an unprovoked attack, the NYPD said.  At around 11 pm on March 1, a 27-year-old man was riding the A Train approached 34th Street Penn Station. Cops said unprovoked, another man approached him and made anti-LGBTQ statements.  The attacker then pulled out a box cutter and went after the straphanger. The victim put up his hands to stop the blow and was slashed on his left hand.  Cops said the victim fled the train at the station seeking help but the attacker remained on the train. Valentine’s Car Stop Turns into Armed Robbery The NYPD is searching for four men in connection with a carjacking on the Henry Hudson Parkway. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice March 2, 20224 MANHATTAN - Gunmen carjacked a couple parked on the side of the Henry Hudson Parkway during a harrowing robbery, cops said. At around 3 am on February 15, a couple was inside a gray 2024 BMW parked on the side of the Henry Hudson Parkway and West 114 Street. A gold Acura sedan pulled up behind them. Cops said four men exited the car with guns and a knife drawn. The men approached the BMW and forcibly removed the car keys.  Cops said the gunmen pulled the couple out of the car and two robbers got in and drove away. The other carjackers hopped back in the Acura and drove away following the stolen BMW. Both the male and female victims only suffered minor injuries. Crook Rips Off Bag from Luxury Hotel The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with the theft of $150,000 worth of property from a guest at a luxury hotel. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice  March 1, 2024  MANHATTAN - A tourist on Valentine’s Day was robbed of $150,000 worth of property when a crook ran off with his bag from a swanky hotel, cops said.  At around 11:40 am on February 14, a man walked up to the Peninsula Hotel on 5th Avenue and entered the bag holding area. Cops said the man removed a bag and was seen on surveillance video walking away with the item.  The NYPD said the items removed are valued at $150,000. The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion who is 5 foot 11 and bald. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, black sneakers, a black backpack, and black sunglasses.
