Robber Targeted Elderly Women Stole Purses, Macs The NYPD announced an arrest in a series of robberies throughout Manahttan. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice February 8, 2024 MANHATTAN - A robber who swiped a pair of MacBooks, as well as purses containing thousands in cash, was busted for a series of thefts dating back to November, the NYPD said. Police announced the arrest of 22-year-old Elijah Gay of Brooklyn. Gay was charged with robbery, grand larceny, criminal posession of stolen property, criminal possession of a weapon and fare evasion. Cops believe Gay is connected to at least five robberies throughout Manhattan. The first case was on November 12 inside the Broadway Lafayette Subway Station. Cops said the thief approached a 43-year-old woman from behind and removed her MacBook valued at $1,200. On January 4, a 74-year-old woman was in her car parked opposite the Frick on Madison Avenue.
