Investigators believe the vicious beating and slashing was an unprovoked attack.  The NYPD just released new surveillance video of a man suspected of beating and slashing a man during a random attack.   At around 10:30 am on December 31, a 52-year-old man was standing in front of a Chinese Takeout restaurant at 2038 Amsterdam Avenue. Cops said a man dressed in black ran up to him and struck the victim in the back of the head with a bottle. Unprovoked Attack in Garment District - Suspect Caught on Camera The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with an assault on a woman in the Grament District during an unprovoked attack. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice March 7, 2024 MANHATTAN - Cops are looking for an apparently deranged man who threw a cup of hot water on a woman during an unprovoked attack in the Garment District.  At around 8:30 am, a 27-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of West 35 Street and 8th Avenue. Cops said an unknown man walked up to her and, without saying a word, threw a cup of hot water on her.  He then ran off in an unknown direction.  The victim was treated at a nearby medical facility. Cops said the victim suffered minor injuries throughout her body since the water missed her exposed face.  Street surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect.  The alleged attacker is described as a male with a dark complexion and a slim build...

Man Knocked to the Ground in Unprovoked Attack Outside Stuy Town

By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice December 7, 2022  MANHATTAN - A 69-year-old man was beaten to the ground and then stomped on during an unprovoked attack outside Stuy Town.  At around 9:50 pm on December 1, a 69-year-old man was walking down 14th Street when a man ran up behind him and punched him in the back of the head. The victim fell to the pavement outside 404 East 14th Street.  As the victim tried to get back up a second man came up to him and kicked him in the back causing him to fall again.  The attackers fled on foot southbound on 1st Avenue. Police say there is no motive for the unprovoked attack.  The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. He sustained injuries to his head, legs and hands. The first suspect is a man with a medium complexion who is around 25 years of age. He is 5 foot 9 with a thin build and a mustache. Subway Rider Slashed in Face in Unprovoked Attack

Police are looking for this person in connection with a subway slashing on the Upper West Side. By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice  December 2, 2022  MANHATTAN - A subway rider was slashed in the face with a razor in an unprovoked attack on the Upper West Side.  Police released surveillance video from the subway turnstiles showing the man they say is a suspect in the attack.  At around 9:45 pm on November 29, a 49-year-old man was riding a northbound Number 2 train. As the train approached the 72 Street/Broadway station, a young man walked up to him and slashed him across the face with a razor.  The attacker walked off the train when it reached the station and fled to the street above. Investigators said the attack was unprovoked.  The victim suffered a gash across his nose.
