Man Throws Can of Beans While Shouting Ethnic Slurs The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with a hate crime involving canned vegetables. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice April 11, 2024 MANHATTAN - A man throwing a can of beans is being investigated as a hate crime during an attempted assault in the subway, cops said. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating an unusual attempted assault on the Upper East Side. At around 6 pm on April 4, a 22-year-old woman was entering at the subway station for the F and Q trains at Lexington and 63rd Street. Cops said a man came up from behind and threw a can of baked beans at her. The can missed but the attacker made “anti-ethnic remarks” before hopping onto a subway train as it departed the station. The victim was not injured. The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion and thin build. He has short cropped hair and facial hair. He was last seen wearing
