Attacker Made Homophobic Remarks Before Slashing Subway Rider - Cops Say The NYPD has made an arrest in the hate crime slashing inside a subway train at Penn Station. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice March 5, 2024 MANHATTAN - A Bronx man has been arrested for the hate crime slashing at Penn Station, the NYPD said. Police have arrested 46-year-old Milton Hamlin of the Grand Concourse for the subway slashing. Hamlin was charged with assault hate crime, assault, menacing hate crime and menacing. At around 11 pm on March 1, a 27-year-old man was riding the A Train approached 34th Street Penn Station. Cops said unprovoked, another man approached him and made anti-LGBTQ statements.  The attacker then pulled out a box cutter and went after the straphanger. The victim put up his hands to stop the blow and was slashed on his left hand.

Man Slashed with Box Cutter Inside Subway Car The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with a hate crime in which a straphanger was slashed on the subway. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice March 4, 2024 MANHATTAN - A straphanger was slashed inside an “A” train by a man who shouted homophobic remarks during an unprovoked attack, the NYPD said.  At around 11 pm on March 1, a 27-year-old man was riding the A Train approached 34th Street Penn Station. Cops said unprovoked, another man approached him and made anti-LGBTQ statements.  The attacker then pulled out a box cutter and went after the straphanger. The victim put up his hands to stop the blow and was slashed on his left hand.  Cops said the victim fled the train at the station seeking help but the attacker remained on the train. Woman Scrawled Anti Semitic Hate Across from Yeshiva University, Cops Said

Hate Crime Investigated Near Yeshiva University The NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating anti-Semitic comments written in an elevator near Yeshiva University. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice February 5, 2024 MANHATTAN - Cops are looking for a woman who alleged scrawled hate messages inside an elevator across from Yeshiva University. The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating. At around 2:30 pm on January 15, someone wrote an “anti-Semitic statement” in marker inside an elevator at 497 West 182nd Street.  Following an investigation the NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect.  The suspect is described as a female with a slim build and a light complexion. She was last seen wearing a checker-colored jacket, a green beanie cap, a blue surgical mask, long earrings, and camo-colored pants. ‘You Are Jewish’ - Attacker Says Police are searching for this man for allegedly attacking a Jewish woman on a Midtown subway train. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice  October 18, 2023  NEW YORK - A woman was punched in the face on a Midtown subway train because, according to her attacker, she is Jewish, cops said.  At around 11:30 pm on October 14, a 29-year-old woman was sitting on a Number 7 Train near the 42nd Street and Lexington Avenue Subway Station. Without notice a man walked over to her and punched her in the face.  Cops said the woman asked her attacker why he punched her and he told her, “You are Jewish.”

Hate Crime Attack on Canal Street

Police are searching for this man in a hate crime assault. By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice December 21, 2022 MANHATTAN - The NYPD is investigating a possible hate crime attack on Canal Street. Police released surveillance video of the suspect who could be homeless.  At around 7:45 pm on December 12, a 24-year-old man was walking down Canal Street and Broadway when a man in a baseball cap ran up to him. He punched the man in the face and shouted anti-gay statements, cops said.  The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction.  The victim refused medical attention at the scene.  The NYPD’s Hate Crime task force is investigating the assault as a possible hate crime.  The video released by police shows a disheveled man walking with what looks like a blanket and bedding. The suspect is wanted in connection with a hate crime assault. By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice December 20, 2022 MANHATTAN - Police released new photos of the man sought for attacking a man near Central Park while making Anti-Semetic remarks. At around 7:30 pm on December 14, a 63-year-old man was walking to the Central Park entrance at Terrace Drive and East Drive. Suddenly the man was struck from behind and he fell to the ground. The elderly man chipped his tooth and suffered a broken hand.  As the victim tried to get up, his attacker began shouting Anti-Semitic remarks before he hopped on his bike with his attached trailer. The victim told police that a sign on the back of the bike trailer read “Hungry Disabled.”  The victim went to a nearby hospital by private means. He was listed in stable condition. Poli

‘I Hate Mexicans’ - Allegedly Spouted by Slasher in the Heights Police say the man in the picture holding a knife is Demont Drawhorn who was arrested and charged with assault and hate crimes.  By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice  December 8, 2022  MANHATTAN - Police have arrested the man, they say, yelled “I Hate Mexicans” as he slashed a man’s face during a hate crime in Washington Heights.  Police arrested 46-year-old Demont Drawhorn and charged him with hate crime/assault, assault, hate crime/aggravated harassment and criminal posession of a weapon.  The arrest stemmed from an attack back in October in which a Good Samaritan tried to break up a fight and instead got slashed in the face for his trouble.  At around 7 pm on October 23, police responded to a call of an assault at a candy store on West 161st Street in Washington Heights. An investigation revealed that the attack stemmed from an assault involving three customers- two arguing and one trying to break it up. C
