Beaten, Pushed onto Subway Tracks During Argument Police are searching for these men in connection with an assault in which a man was pushed onto the subway tracks. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice October 16, 2023 NEW YORK - An argument aboard a subway train turned deadly when two men beat and kicked a straphanger and then pushed him onto the subway tracks on the Upper West Side.  At around 2:30 am on October 14, a 32-year-old man was riding a northbound Number 2 train. Cops said at some point the straphanger got into an argument with two men inside the subway car. When the train stopped at the  Broadway and 72nd Street train station, all three exited the train.

Police are searching for this man in conenction with a series of robberies of smoke shops. -Photo by NYPD By Daniel Gesslein  Manhattan Voice  October 15, 2023  NEW YORK - Police are searching for a pair of smoke shop bandits who robbed at least four weed stores throughout Manhattan and Queens dating back to July. Cops said the crooks hit the same Manhattan smoke shop twice. At around 2:13 pm on July 24, two men walked into a smoke shop on 1st Avenue. One of the men pulled out a hammer and threatened the 20-year-old store employee. He forced the worker behind the counter and started removing cash and merchandise. The accomplice put the stolen cash and items into a bag and the two fled on a moped.  Cops said the money and merchandise is valued at $3,850.

Man Snatches 4 Cell Phones in 24 Hours Police are searching for this man in connection with a series of cell phone robberies on subway trains in Manhattan and the Bronx. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice  October 14, 2023 NEW YORK - Cops are searching for a subway cell phone snatcher who ripped off 4 people in two boroughs, within a 24-hour period.  Police released surveillance video of a man suspected of snatching cell phones from riders along the Number 6 line in both Manhattan and the Bronx. The suspect is seen on the video wearing a black hoodie that reads in part “We are all Aliens to Everyone Somebody….”  Cops said the socially conscious crook first struck by ripping a cell phone out of the hands of a 79-year-old man inside a Number 6 train at the 51st Street Station. Mugger Looks Like Commuter Heading to the Office Police are searching for this man in connection with the vicious assault on an elderly man at a subway station. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice October 12, 2023 NEW YORK - A 70-year-old man is recovering after being punched in the head by a mugger inside a subway station near Herald Square, cops said. Surveillance video shows a suspect who looks more like a middle aged man heading into the office rather than a man accused of being a vicious mugger. At around 11 am on October 10, the 70 year-old was exiting a Northbound N train at the West 32nd Street and Broadway subway station. As he walked across the platform, a middle aged man wearing a beige sweatshirt and had a work bag slung over his shoulder approached the senior.  Cops said without warning the man began punching the senior in the head and throughout the body, forcing the elderly man to the ground. Suicide is one of the leading causes of death in the United States. Between 2021 and 2022, suicide in the US increased by 2.6% with 49,500 people dying by suicide in 2022.   Suicide is death caused by injuring oneself willingly or with ambivalence. A suicide attempt is when someone harms themselves with any intent to end their life, but they do not die because of their actions.  Suicide is a serious public health challenge that can affect anyone regardless of age, gender or background. Having suicidal thoughts and/or suicidal behaviors, although common, should not be considered normal and often indicate more serious issues. 

Hate Crime Attackers Arrested - Cops Said

Police arrested three suspects in the hate crime attack on a senior in the Flatiron District. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice October 9, 2023 NEW YORK - Cops arrested three teenagers who allegedly beat a 72-year-old man and made anti-LGBTQ remarks. The victim suffered a broken jaw in the attack. Police arrested three teenage males ages 13, 14 and 16. Each was charged with gang assault, criminal possession of a weapon and hate crime - assault. Police did not release the names of the three suspects because they were all minors. At around 10:15 pm on September 15, a 72-year-old man was walking in the Flatiron District. In front of West 17 Street and 9th Avenue he was approached by three teenage males. The teens began making anti-LGBTQ remarks and then assaulted the senior, cops said. Cops Make Arrest in Baton Attack on Bike Rider

The victim’s daughter recorded the man as he tried to get away and hide the object he allegedly used to strike the woman with. Police arrested 59-year-old Angelo Del Guercio of 92nd Street. He was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Investigators said the attack stemmed from an arguement over the right of way for bicycles in the park. The suspect apparently was walking on the bike path in front of the woman and her daughter. At around 2:30 pm on October 5, a 66-year-old woman and her daughter were both riding bicycles on the bike path in the vicinity of West 96 Street and West Drive, inside of Central Park.
