MANHATTAN - A man wielding two hammers threatened a store employee at a West Side 7-Eleven when they tried to stop him from shoplifting, cops said.


At around 12:30 am on May 14, a man was inside the 7-Eleven store at 555 West 42nd Street. Cops said the man removed merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. 


When a store employee confronted the shoplifter, the man pulled out two hammers and began swinging them at the worker. When the worker backed off, the suspect fled with the stolen items. 


The employee was not injured. 


The NYPD released surveillance video from inside the 7-Eleven. 


The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion with a straightened perm hairstyle. He was last seen wearing a long black jacket and ripped black jeans.
