MANHATTAN - A man wielding two hammers threatened a store employee at a West Side 7-Eleven when they tried to stop him from shoplifting, cops said.


At around 12:30 am on May 14, a man was inside the 7-Eleven store at 555 West 42nd Street. Cops said the man removed merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. 


When a store employee confronted the shoplifter, the man pulled out two hammers and began swinging them at the worker. When the worker backed off, the suspect fled with the stolen items. 


The employee was not injured. 


The NYPD released surveillance video from inside the 7-Eleven. 


The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion with a straightened perm hairstyle. He was last seen wearing a long black jacket and ripped black jeans.

Hate Crime Attackers Arrested - Cops Said

Police arrested three suspects in the hate crime attack on a senior in the Flatiron District. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice October 9, 2023 NEW YORK - Cops arrested three teenagers who allegedly beat a 72-year-old man and made anti-LGBTQ remarks. The victim suffered a broken jaw in the attack. Police arrested three teenage males ages 13, 14 and 16. Each was charged with gang assault, criminal possession of a weapon and hate crime - assault. Police did not release the names of the three suspects because they were all minors. At around 10:15 pm on September 15, a 72-year-old man was walking in the Flatiron District. Scooter Riding Robber Drags Elderly Woman to Ground The NYPD is searching for this man in connection with a chain snatching that sent any elderly woman to the hospital. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice  June 11, 2024  NEW YORK -  A 96-year-old woman was sent to the hospital by a scooter riding chain snatcher, cops said.  Police are searching for a chain snatcher who knocked an elderly woman to the ground. At around 5:30 pm on May 24, a 96-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of West 127th Street and 8th Avenue. A man on a black moped rode up, grabbed the woman’s necklace and dragged the elderly victim causing her to fall. The robber rode off. The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital where she was listed in stable condition.  The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect seen riding the scooter.
