The NYPD just released photos from surveillance video of two young suspects in the assault. News of the June attack comes after the dramatic events of last week’s riot in Union Square during a video game console giveaway gone wrong and the funeral for a gay man stabbed to death for dancing at a Brooklyn gas station. At around 8 pm on June 28, two 23-year-old men were sitting on a bench in the vicinity of East 13 Street and Broadway, a block away from Union Square. Two young men walked up to them and started making “anti-LBTQ remarks.” Police are searching for two males in connection with a hate crime attack near Union Square. -Photo by NYPD As the two groups began arguing, the aggressors began punching
