Central Park Hate Crime Attacker Identified

Police are searching for this man in connection with a hate crime attack outside Central Park. By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice  January 6, 2023  MANHATTAN - Police say they have identified the homeless attacker who beat a man outside Central Park while making Anti-Semitic remarks.  The NYPD has released a photo of 32-year-old Perin Jacobchuk. Cops are looking for Jacobchuk in regards to the December 14th attack.  Police are searching for 32-year-old Perin Jacobchuk in connection with a hate crime assault outside Central Park. At around 7:30 pm, a 63-year-old man was walking to the Central Park entrance at Terrace Drive and East Drive. Suddenly the man was struck from behind and he fell to the ground. The elderly man chipped his tooth and suffered a broken hand.  As the victim tried to get up, his attacker began shouting Anti-Semitic remarks before he hopped on his bike with his attached trailer. NYC to Replace 1,000 Gas Vehicles with EVs

Mayor Adams Hails Cleaner, Greener NYC Mayor  Adams  Announces Nearly 1,000 new Electric Vehicles to Replace Fossil Fuel-Powered City Fleet Vehicles, Deployment of new EV Charging Infrastructure   NEW YORK – Mayor Eric Adams, New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) Commissioner Dawn M. Pinnock, and New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced $10.1 million in federal grants to replace nearly 925 fossil fuel-powered fleet vehicles with electric vehicles (EV) and install 315 new EV chargers across the city.  DOT facilitated the grant application process through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program and will administer the funding. DCAS will receive $6.2 million, and the remainder will be disbursed to the New York City Department of Sanitation (DSNY). Preppy Mugger Throws Old Woman to Ground in Purse Snatching in Tribeca

By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice January 3, 2023  MANHATTAN - Cops are looking for a well-dressed but vicious crook who threw an elderly woman to the sidewalk when he stole her purse in Tribeca on New Year’s Day.  The NYPD released the dramatic video which shows the man drag his victim to the ground. At around 2 pm on January 1, a 76-year-old woman had just left a gym and was walking in front of 88 Leonard Street when a young man walked up to her. First he tried to remove her purse from off her arm. The woman is seen confronting him and pulling her purse back. As she walks away, the man runs up to her, grabs the purse and yanks hard. The woman, who had been holding onto to the purse, fell to the sidewalk. Cops say the suspect fled on foot on Church Street.  The victim refused medical attention at the scene. All of us want a strong economy, safe streets and subways; more affordable housing; support for working families and a great education for our children.   When I took office as your Mayor a year ago, I pledged that we would Get Stuff Done in these areas, and I am proud to report that we have done just that. The economy is roaring back, with over 150,000 private-sector jobs added between January and October. Subway ridership is higher than it has been in two years. Tourism has recovered to 85% of pre-pandemic levels, supporting jobs across every sector, from hotels to restaurants, bars and shops.   After two years of the COVID pandemic, New York City is back. FDNY Member Busted for Urinating in Jewish Tent

Police say this man who was wanted for vandalizing a Jewish sukkah, is a member of the FDNY.  By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice December 23, 2022 MANHATTAN - A member of the FDNY has been arrested and charged with vandalizing a Jewish sukkah and urinating inside the tent outside an Upper East Side synagogue during Sukkah.  Police arrested 37-year-old Marty Party, a member of the FDNY. He was charged with criminal mischief.  According to police at around 1 am on October 8, Party vandalized a sukkah outside at East 92 Street and 2 Avenue. He is accused of damaging the sukkah by kicking it over and then proceeding to urinate inside the tent.  A sukkah is a tent used as a temporary dining structure during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.  No word if the case is being investigated as a hate crime. 

Senior Struck in Unprovoked UES Attack

By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice December 23, 2022 MANHATTAN - Cops are searching for a man who punched an elderly Upper East Side man in an unprovoked attack.  At around 6:30 am on November 28, a 72-year-old man was walking in the vicinity of 3rd Avenue and East 81st Street. Suddenly a man walked up to him and punched him in the chest for no reason. The attacker fled.  The victim refused medical attention. Police released surveillance video of the suspect. Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at  1-800-577-TIPS  (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
