Cell Phone Thief Strikes in Major Subway Stations

MANHATTAN - Cops are searching for a cell phone thief targeting women at major subway stations in Manhattan.


 

Police released surveillance video of a suspect who is being sought in connection with three robberies in less than a month. The thief has targeted women in Times Square and Rockefeller Center.


 

The first incident took place at the Union Square Subway Station. At around 1 pm on June 12, a 34-year-old woman was on her phone inside the subway station. Suddenly a man ran up to her and snatched the cell phone out of her hands. 


 

The thief ran off. The victim did not sustain any injuries.


At around 12:30 pm on June 26, a 25-year-old woman was inside the Rockefeller Center Subway Station. A man ran up to her and snatched the cell phone from her hands.


 

The thief ran off. The victim did not sustain any injuries.




At around 4 pm on July 3, a 35-year-old woman was on her phone inside the 42nd Street subway station. The thief ran up to her and snatch the phone out of her hands.





The thief ran off. The victim did not sustain any injuries.


The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a gray jogging suit with black lines and the “Nike” and swoosh logo on the chest. He was also seen wearing black and white sneakers and a surgical mask.
