Officials claim the investigation is not related to the fed probes into City Hall officials. Last night Interim Police Commissioner Thomas G. Donlon released the following statement: “On Friday, September 20, federal authorities executed search warrants at my residences. They took materials that came into my possession approximately 20 years ago and are unrelated to my work with the New York City Police Department. “This is not a department matter, and the department will not be commenting,” the statement concluded. The cryptic statement shocked officials and City Hall watchers who saw Donlon as a stabilizing force following the sudden resignation of Commissioner Edward Caban.
