MANHATTAN - A woman was smashed in the head with a rock by a man during a random unprovoked attack in Greenwich Village, cops said.
Police released surveillance video of a bearded man wanted for assaulting a 67-year-old woman in an unprovoked attack in broad daylight on the streets of Manhattan.
At around 9 am on July 6, a 67-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of 7th Avenue and West 14th Street in Greenwich Village.
Cops said a man walked up to her and without warning smashed her in the head with a rock.
Cops said, as the woman lay on the ground stunned, the suspect was seen fleeing on foot westbound on West 15th Street heading towards 8th Avenue.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for the injury to her head. Police did not release an update on her condition. Developing…
Cops describe the suspect as a male with a light complexion, medium build, long dark hair and a dark beard.
The suspect is believed to be six foot 2 in height. He was last seen wearing dark pants and a green t shirt.
