NEW YORK - The NYPD released surveillance video of a suspect wanted for choking out a woman in Alphabet City. 


At around 4 am on October 22, a 29-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of Houston Street and Avenue D. The NYPD says a man dressed in black ran up to the woman and strangled her from behind. 


The woman blacked out and fell to the ground. 


Cops said the attacker ran away. 


The victim suffered bruising to the knee and a laceration to the neck. 


The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion. He is said to be between the ages of 35 and 45, 5 foot 6 and 140 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black sweatpants and black sneakers.
