MANHATTAN - The NYPD announced a $13,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the Times Square shooter who wounded a Brazilian tourist.
The NYPD announced the reward and released new surveillance photos of the suspect shown carrying a gun through Times Square. Investigators took to social media and the news to get the word out about the reward in the hopes of catching the brazen gunman in what appears to have started off as a simple shoplifting case.

At around 7 pm last night, a security guard inside JD Sports noticed three men shoplifting. When the guard tried to confront the shoplifters, one of the crew pulled a gun out from shoulder strap and opened fire.
The bullet missed the security guard but hit a 37-year-old female tourist from Brazil who was shopping in the store at the time. She was treated at Bellevue Hospital and is in stable condition.
"We need the public’s help to identify and locate this individual before he hurts anyone else. He already shot an innocent person and tried to murder a NYC Police Officer," police said.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
