MANHATTAN - Cops are looking for an apparently deranged man who threw a cup of hot water on a woman during an unprovoked attack in the Garment District.

At around 8:30 am, a 27-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of West 35 Street and 8th Avenue. Cops said an unknown man walked up to her and, without saying a word, threw a cup of hot water on her.

He then ran off in an unknown direction.

The victim was treated at a nearby medical facility. Cops said the victim suffered minor injuries throughout her body since the water missed her exposed face.

Street surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect.

The alleged attacker is described as a male with a dark complexion and a slim build. He was last seen wearing green pants, dark-colored sneakers, and a brown coat.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
