Mayor Adams Hails Cleaner, Greener NYC Mayor  Adams  Announces Nearly 1,000 new Electric Vehicles to Replace Fossil Fuel-Powered City Fleet Vehicles, Deployment of new EV Charging Infrastructure   NEW YORK – Mayor Eric Adams, New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) Commissioner Dawn M. Pinnock, and New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced $10.1 million in federal grants to replace nearly 925 fossil fuel-powered fleet vehicles with electric vehicles (EV) and install 315 new EV chargers across the city.  DOT facilitated the grant application process through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement Program and will administer the funding. By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice January 3, 2023  MANHATTAN - Cops are looking for a well-dressed but vicious crook who threw an elderly woman to the sidewalk when he stole her purse in Tribeca on New Year’s Day.  The NYPD released the dramatic video which shows the man drag his victim to the ground. At around 2 pm on January 1, a 76-year-old woman had just left a gym and was walking in front of 88 Leonard Street when a young man walked up to her. First he tried to remove her purse from off her arm. The woman is seen confronting him and pulling her purse back. As she walks away, the man runs up to her, grabs the purse and yanks hard. The woman, who had been holding onto to the purse, fell to the sidewalk. Cops say the suspect fled on foot on Church Street.  The victim refused medical attention at the scene. Police say this man who was wanted for vandalizing a Jewish sukkah, is a member of the FDNY.  By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice December 23, 2022 MANHATTAN - A member of the FDNY has been arrested and charged with vandalizing a Jewish sukkah and urinating inside the tent outside an Upper East Side synagogue during Sukkah.  Police arrested 37-year-old Marty Party, a member of the FDNY. He was charged with criminal mischief.  According to police at around 1 am on October 8, Party vandalized a sukkah outside at East 92 Street and 2 Avenue. He is accused of damaging the sukkah by kicking it over and then proceeding to urinate inside the tent.  A sukkah is a tent used as a temporary dining structure during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.  No word if the case is being investigated as a hate crime. 

By Dan Gesslein Manhattan Voice December 23, 2022 MANHATTAN - Cops are searching for a man who punched an elderly Upper East Side man in an unprovoked attack.  At around 6:30 am on November 28, a 72-year-old man was walking in the vicinity of 3rd Avenue and East 81st Street. Suddenly a man walked up to him and punched him in the chest for no reason. The attacker fled.  The victim refused medical attention. Police released surveillance video of the suspect.   Rendering NEW YORK  – Con Edison is monitoring the winter storm that is expected to hit our region tonight, and Friday and mobilizing to respond to any service problems that may occur.   More than 700 outside workers have been scheduled to address power outages that may arise in New York City and Westchester County.   The wind could bring down power lines, causing customers to lose service and creating a safety hazard. In addition, road salt will mix with melting ice and could damage underground electrical wiring and lead to outages.   The company urges members of the public to stay away from downed wires. They may be live.  For your safety, we may guard downed wires until crews make repairs. Prosecutors introduced photos into evidence at trial of drugs found inside furniture. NEW YORK - A jury convicted a Massachusetts man of running a drug trafficking ring smuggling cocaine inside furniture to locations in the Bronx and Yonkers.  Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, announced the conviction in Manhattan federal court of Abel Montilla for his participation in a cocaine trafficking scheme between 2018 and 2021.   “The unanimous jury verdict holds Abel Montilla accountable for his role in a widespread cocaine trafficking organization that flooded the streets with four tons of cocaine,” Williams said. “Montilla was a coordinator of the drug trafficking organization who traveled around the country to manage the delivery of the organization’s cocaine-filled furniture. He now faces the prospect of a lengthy prison sentence for his crime.” According to the allegations contained in the Superseding I...
