Police are searching for this man in connection with a string of muggings on the Upper East Side and the Bronx. -Photo by NYPD By Dan Gesslein  Manhattan Voice August 17, 2023  NEW YORK - Cops are searching for a moped-riding mugger who attacked three people throughout the Upper East Side of Manhattan and at least one person in the Bronx.  The NYPD released surveillance video of a man wanted in four separate attacks that occurred on the same day on the Upper East Side- as well as one case in the Bronx days later. Cops said the suspect’s MO is he rides up behind his victim on the moped riding on the sidewalk. He punches the victim in the head and tries to steal their headphones off their head.  The first case was around 5:30 pm on July 3. The suspect rode up behind a 20-year-old man in front of 440 East 79th Street. The moped rider reached over and punched the victim in the head and tried to yank the headphones off the man’s head. Cops are searching for 16 people for wrecking a BMW parked near Union Square.  Police released new surveillance video from the riot which highlights the faces of the suspects, cops say, wrecked a car parked near the scene.

At around 10 pm on July 5, a 34-year-old woman was in the Flatiron District when a group of four people walked up behind her. In the vicinity of 6th Avenue and West 23rd Street, one of the members of the group ran up to the woman and sprayed her in the face with an unknown substance. Another member of the group grabbed onto the victim’s purse and violently stripped it from her. The group of purse snatchers then ran off. Cops said the crew were spotted running into the “R” and “W” train station at Broadway and West 23rd Street.
